Thomas Grotzky

The artist

Thomas GROTZKY was born in Hamburg where he lived the first part of his life. In 1990 , he is 30 years old and arrives in France in Toulouse, where he will pursue successfully a career of engineer in the aeronautical industry. Very soon he meets Danièle and together they buy in Toulouse a house "coup de coeur". The house is old and has a lovely intimate garden, a real haven of peace and greenery in the city, which will become its first source for inspiration. Interest in painting began with the assiduous reading of the many impressionist art books that Danièle has been collecting for years, and then it was enough that she once found an old box of tubes and the paint palette that belonged to her grandfather, and that she offers them, so that Thomas decides to try the world of color, and it will be the revelation of an unsuspected talent and a new passion that will never leave him.

From then on, he never stopped painting to cover all the walls of the house, this passion for painting will take shape and be confirmed from year to year over a period of 20 years, along with the inspiration born of the moments, the places, the holidays and the trips that they share together. It is the happiness of painting and the « douceur de vivre «  in the south that emerges from his canvases, landscapes or marines, vivid in color, where light and sun are omnipresent. There are the influences of great masters such as Monet or Van Gogh, European or American impressionists,  fauvists for color,

In 2013 the couple embarked on a new life project, and settled in the Landes on the ocean coast south of Bordeaux . At first they buy the villa "Ametsa", the dream in Basque, the idea for Thomas to devote himself totally to painting has made its way. Here nature and light offer the landscape painter a dream setting, the place to create the Art gallery "Ametsa".
